The term "hiking" involves activities such as backpacking, day walking on easy and difficult trail as well as scrambling and climbing.

As with skiing, equipment is a major factor to ensure mountain fun. A relatively small difference between an OK and an excellent, well fitted boot or a backpack makes a huge difference on a 5 or 8 hour trip. The same is with a tent, which can look good but has some small features that makes it annoying in a remote camping site, especially in the rain. Our staff has in depth hiking experience and we only recommend and sell the equipment that we believe is the best for our customers.

The Norseman Cross-country Ski Shop is dedicated solely to cross-country skiing. Established in 1971, it is the oldest retail store of this type in Western Canada . Our Ski Shop staff has over 100 years of combined experience! You will be able to get advice to equip yourself with suitable ski gear and clothing for your specific needs and skill level.

Professional Services

We provide the following services; binding mounts, hot waxing, pine tarring of wooden skis, ski repairs and parts replacement. Our technician has 35 years worth of expertise and can offer solutions even to the most difficult problems. The Norseman Ski Shop is one of a very few cross-country ski shops in all of Canada that offer in-house stone grinding service of ski bases with a Wintersteiger Micro 1 stone-grinding machine.

The Norseman Ski Shop offers a variety of tested clothing lines to keep you comfortable in all weather conditions. We carry a full line of grip and glide waxes, as well as corks, scrapers, brushes, cleaners, pine tar, p-tex etc. We also have a selection of waxing benches, irons and accessories. The Norseman Ski Shop offers basic ski waxing clinics throughout the season. In addition, we coordinate basic lessons of classic skiing techniques. Norseman Ski Shop staff will be happy to custom fit you and your family, with new equipment.
